Difference between Palliative Care and Hospice Care?
Both palliative care and hospice care are designed to provide patients with more comfort than regular medical platforms. But there is one major difference between them.
Palliative care can begin at the time of diagnosis or at the onset of treatment. Palliative care manages potential side effects, reduces pain, boosts patient morale as well as improves patient response to treatments.
Hospice care begins after treatment has been stopped, and it is medically clear that the patient is not going to survive the illness. Hospice care preserves the patient’s dignity, respects his/her wishes, provides family counseling as well as manages financial pressures.
